Some collectibles deserve a closer look—and a place on your shelf that feels a little less ordinary.

At Acierto Creations, our officially licensed Evil Dead II Necronomicon Ex Mortis Artisan Edition brings together our love of horror, practical effects, illustration, and traditional bookmaking. Created under license from STUDIOCANAL, this handcrafted Book of the Dead is something we wanted to own ourselves.

Here’s a closer look at what goes into it.

A Cover With Character

The cover is where your encounter with the Necronomicon begins.

Made from natural rubber latex, it features sculpted textures and the unsettling face that makes the Book of the Dead so recognizable. Each cover is individually painted with acrylics and sealed with a protective varnish.

Painting and finishing by hand produces subtle variations. Shadows settle differently into the sculpted details, and the surface takes on its own character. Those differences are part of the appeal of an artisan collectible: you can see the work that went into your particular piece.

Illustrations That Begin by Hand

The artwork begins with hand-drawn illustrations before being prepared for printing.

Inside the book, aged pages feature imagery recreated from Evil Dead II, including the prophetic illustrations depicting Ash. Weathered surfaces and crimson ink help give the pages the feeling of an object with a strange and troubling history.

For us, the interior deserves as much attention as the cover. Opening the book should reward curiosity, whether you’re studying a familiar illustration or noticing a small detail for the first time.

Traditional Bookmaking Matters

A convincing cover is only part of the experience. The book also needs to feel substantial when you pick it up and turn its pages.

Our Necronomicon measures approximately 8 × 10 inches and uses 80 lb text paper with reinforced, Smyth-sewn binding. We assemble, age, and finish each book by hand, bringing the cover and interior together as a complete collectible.

From the sculpted surface to the weathered page edges, each stage contributes to how the finished book looks and feels.

A Presentation Box Worth Keeping

The Artisan Edition comes with an illustrated presentation box measuring approximately 12 × 14 × 4 inches.

The packaging is part of the unboxing experience and gives collectors another way to present the piece. Whether you keep the book beside its box or display it on an easel, it’s designed to earn a place among your favorite horror collectibles.

A display stand is available separately or as part of our book-and-stand bundle.

Why We Still Make Things by Hand

Acierto Creations grew out of a love for making things: films, comics, illustrations, sculptures, and objects you can hold.

That approach carries into our Necronomicon. We use no AI-generated artwork or 3D-printed sculpting. Our process depends on artists and craftspeople spending time with the materials, making decisions, and finishing the details themselves.

Handcrafting takes time. It also leaves something behind: individual character, subtle variation, and evidence of the people who made the object.

We believe there are collectors who still appreciate that human touch. We’re among them.
